Alan Wake Joins the Roster of Dead by Daylight’s Survivors

The game developers at Behaviour Interactive have recently announced an exciting addition to the survivor lineup in their popular asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, Dead by Daylight. In a compelling reveal on Monday, a teaser was posted, showcasing a flashlight piercing the darkness, alongside blood-stained pages.

By Tuesday, it was officially confirmed: Alan Wake, the protagonist of Remedy Entertainment’s acclaimed psychological thriller and survival horror series, is set to join the Dead by Daylight universe later this month.

A Thrilling Addition: Alan Wake’s Unique Abilities

Alan Wake, renowned for his signature use of flashlights to dispel darkness and confront enemies, will bring this iconic element into the game. His flashlight isn’t just for show; it’s integral to his abilities in Dead by Daylight. Detailed by Behaviour, Alan Wake’s skills include:

Champion of Light
This perk is activated when holding a flashlight. While shining the light, players receive a 50% Haste boost. Successfully blinding the Killer also inflicts a 20% Hindered status for 6 seconds. However, it can’t stack and has a cooldown of 80/70/60 seconds.

Boon: Illumination

Near a Dull or Hex Totem, players can use the Ability button 1 to bless it, creating a Boon Totem. Within a 24-meter radius, soft chimes ring, allowing survivors to see all chests and generators’ auras in blue. Additionally, if you have a lit boon totem, your speed in cleansing or blessing totems increases by 6/8/10%. Only one Totem can be blessed at a time, with all boon perks active on it.

Deadline

Triggering when injured, this perk increases the frequency of Skill Checks by 6/8/10% during repairing or healing, and they appear randomly. It also halves the penalty for missing skill checks.

Enhancing the Survivor Experience

Flashlights are already a part of the Dead by Daylight experience, used by Survivors to blind or disrupt Killers. However, Alan Wake’s usage of a torch in his original game and its sequel was much more intense, adding a powerful dynamic to the Survivor’s toolkit.

Upcoming Launch and Recent Additions

This exciting new chapter featuring Alan Wake in Dead by Daylight is set to launch on January 30. Following the recent introduction of Chucky from the Child’s Play series as a Killer, Alan Wake is the latest in a series of high-profile additions to the game. The last significant character added was Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise, another iconic character in the horror and science fiction realm.

Final Thoughts

The inclusion of Alan Wake in Dead by Daylight marks yet another thrilling chapter in the game’s evolution, blending iconic horror elements with unique gameplay mechanics. As Behaviour Interactive continues to expand the universe of Dead by Daylight with beloved characters from different franchises, players can look forward to an ever-evolving, immersive gaming experience.
